Our hope is that The Golden Kiwi reflects Jens’ own interest in creating jewellery that has a dialogue with the influences of New Zealand’s natural environment. This is what led us to design a form that is distinctively organic and free from sharp edges or abrupt divisions. The pendant is developed from the iconic shape of a kiwi, a bird that is intrinsic to our upbringing in New Zealand. By slightly abstracting the form of the pendant an exact depiction of a kiwi, we created a timeless piece imbued with the essence of the national icon and its natural home. We hope that the final design conveys this intention, and that it is worn with pride by everyone who loves our country, New Zealand.

The story of The Golden Kiwi pendant
Our customers often ask us for something distinctively Kiwi. So we decided to create an elegant and wearable design that combines our national symbol with the distinctive Jens Hansen sculptural style. This timeless jewellery icon suits everyone no matter what they are wearing or doing, so we’ve nicknamed it “New Zealand’s little black dress of jewellery”. ‘The Golden Kiwi’ is also a play on another Kiwi icon, being the name of our national lottery from 1961 to 1989.
