What does “Legacy Ring” or “Foundation Release” mean?
Legacy Rings are part of Jens Hansen’s archival design releases, many of which were reissued in limited runs starting in 2008 and 2010. “Foundation Release” pieces are individually numbered and dated, marking them as part of a documented design heritage. These rings reflect Jens Hansen’s original sculptural philosophy and are often collector favorites.
Are the Classic Rings still made to order?
Yes. Even legacy designs are handcrafted to order in Jens Hansen’s New Zealand workshop. While the forms are based on past designs, the materials, sizing, and finishes are tailored to your preferences — ensuring each ring is individually made, not mass-produced.
What metals are available in the Classic collection?
Many designs are offered in sterling silver, yellow gold, white gold & platinum, and red gold, depending on the piece. All metals are solid (not plated or hollow), and the workshop uses high-quality alloys for long-term durability and polish retention.
Can I request a gemstone variation or change to a design?
Yes. If you’re interested in customizing a ring — for example, using a different stone, changing the metal mix, or modifying the scale — the Jens Hansen team can advise on what’s possible. Some pieces are fully customizable, while others preserve the original proportions of the legacy model.
Are these rings signed or marked as authentic?
Yes. Many rings in this collection — especially Foundation Releases — are engraved with legacy markings, such as the release number or a Jens Hansen signature hallmark. These inscriptions help identify the ring’s origin and underscore its value as a documented design from the studio’s history.
