A fachada diz:
Thinking of visiting Nelson or interested in what other's say about us. Here's a quick little story that was published recently in digital publication Concrete Playground, encouraging Australians to pop over the ditch to New Zealand for 72 hours.
Lovely article that featured Nelson in the May 2016 edition of Verve, India Simone the writer was here last September after attending the WOW show in Wellington. Some fantastic writing and imagery including a visit to the Jens Hansen Studio…
The ring seemed to be made simply of gold, but it was impervious to damage. It bore no gem and when placed in a fire, it displayed a fiery Tengwar inscription in the black speech of Mordor, with two lines from a rhyme of lore describing the ring: “One ring to rule them all, one ring to find them, One ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.”
Across the road from it is arguably Nelson’s biggest celebrity — the man who made The Precious. Jens Henson created the rings (there was more than one) in the Lord of the Rings (LOTR) series. A stream of tourists waits outside the shop to custom-order wedding bands and take a picture with him... You can’t escape The Hobbit and LOTR in New Zealand — I’m amazed I’ve gone nearly three days without it.
You just see occasional puffs of smoke from a cute little hobbit hole buried in the hillside or some washing flapping in the breeze, as if hobbits really live here. It is absolutely enchanting.
Our big 'stunt' ring is in Japan for the opening of The Hobbit The Desolation of Smaug. Tourism New Zealand, and Warner Bros Japan are hosting Ring-san and have made him feel very welcome as he travelled from Nelson, around New Zealand and on to Japan. The following are translations of the original @PureNZinJapan
Later that day, Catherine and Paul made their way to the Jens Hansen Contemporary Gold and Silversmith. Since 1968, the Jens Hansen workshop in Nelson has been making jewellery of uncompromising beauty. But what’s really unique about this jewellery boutique is that its founder, Jens Hansen was responsible for crafting the ring for for Peter Jackson's "Lord of The Rings” trilogy, including “The Hobbit" films.
