Eternal Union
Symbolising an eternal union, the ring's significance spans many centuries. In 860 Pope Nicolas I
decreed that a gold ring was required to signify betrothal or engagement. Then, in 1477 Archduke
Maximillian of Austria gave Mary of Burgandy the first recorded diamond engagement ring. At Jens
Hansen Contemporary Gold & Silversmith we combine traditional and modern jewellery techniques
to handcraft your unique ring - a statement of your individuality.
